In 2025 I shot the series London: Light & Lines. A hardcover book and larger prints of the series are available here:
London: Light & Lines
As we traverse the city we tend to pay scant attention to its shape; not the majestic sweeps of the streets and terraces but the geometry of the everyday, the places we pass by sometimes daily, failing to notice them as we dodge pedestrians or look at our phones.
This series stops to observe the beauty of the shapes that make up the city, finding symmetry, light and colour in unexpected places. Seen in this way, these images remind us of the creativity that goes into creating such spaces, elevating street scenes into something altogether more vibrant and alive. Shapes and patterns are all around us even if we don’t always see them. London is also a much more colourful place than sometimes thought.
Since the city is very much a living thing, the inclusion of people lends not just a sense of scale but of reality. Where cityscapes can tend towards the abstract or cold, the feeling here is of the streets and their inhabitants coexisting side by side. As London grows and changes, so it will need to continually evolve new spaces.
Inspired by the photographer’s travels around London, the series invites viewers to pause and take a moment to consider a different view of the city.
